Arsenal Sweat Over William Saliba Injury After Early Exit vs Liverpool

Arsenal’s William Saliba lasted less than five minutes against Liverpool at Anfield, leaving fans and manager Mikel Arteta deeply concerned.

The 24-year-old French defender went down following an aerial challenge with Hugo Ekitike. While the duel didn’t look serious at first, Saliba appeared to suffer a lower left leg injury. He immediately hit the turf in visible pain and required medical attention before being substituted for Cristhian Mosquera.

Replays suggested Ekitike may have clipped the outside of Saliba’s boot, but nothing conclusive emerged even after slow-motion review.

Arsenal’s Growing Injury List

The Gunners were already without Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, while captain Martin Odegaard started on the bench due to a recent knock. Losing Saliba so early made matters even worse for Arteta’s side in a massive clash at Anfield.

William Saliba Injury History

Non-contact injuries involving the ankle or foot can be especially worrying, and fans will be waiting for Arteta’s post-match update.

Saliba has generally been a reliable presence since joining Arsenal. He did, however, miss the final two months of the 2022-23 season with a back injury, plus a short spell in January last year due to a hamstring issue.

Since arriving at the Emirates, the 28-cap France international has played 136 matches, scoring seven goals and cementing himself as a defensive leader.
